ADHD Coaching Overview
- Written by: Dave Pughe-Parry
Ever since the advent of coaching for ADHD emerged in the last decade of last century, it´s reputation for improving the lives of ADDers has grown.
Therapy, the traditional non-medicinal treatment is not replaced by ADHD Coaching, but is excellent once the coaching has made the life changes required. ADHD Coaching should also not be confused with coaching of any other kind - there are significant differences and elements not found in non-ADHD Coaching.
It is also vital that everyone understands there is no single treatment that works for ADHD. Our Basic Treatment Wheel has 8 components with Powerful Affirming Love at the heart of each.
There is seldom a single person in a family that has the condition, and our one-on-one coaching has always included family members to ensure the life changes are effective and sustainable amongst the whole family.
One-on-one ADHD Coaching was pioneered in South Africa by Living ADDventure@ and is the gold standard. The ADHD Coach deals with aspects specific to you - the client, and adapts the coaching modules accordingly. The only problem is there are not nearly enough coaches to even begin to satisfy the demand.
Group ADHD Coaching is therefore your next best option. Living ADDventure@ offers a hybrid style of ADHD Coaching. The modules - there are currently 24 - are completed in a couple of group sessions, with follow up sessions in groups ranging from 4 down to one.
All our coaching is done online which means that we are accessible every day and at most times. The coaching methodology is a multimedia and multidisciplinary style which combines live video, video as part of educational materials, static photography, diagrams and illustrations, reading, documents and audio of nearly all the written material.
